COPROT is a community-driven conservation project that aims to address the conservation/community issues that occur in the Osa peninsula, Costa Rica.

The organisation aims to conserve and protect sea turtles by protecting nests and in extreme cases relocating nests to hatcheries, reducing predation rates through regular beach patrols and assisting in the rescue and rehabilitation of sea turtles. The organisation also conducts regular beach cleans and participates in conservation research by collecting data on nesting turtles to influence policy makers and initiate positive environmental change as well as research on beach erosion and methods for environmental conservation and protection.

COPROT also aims to educate the local community on the importance of conservation and to
promote safe practices of ecotourism, to be more aware of plastic consumption and the affects of
littering. They aim to provide paid positions to local people and re-train them to help protect the
populations of sea turtles that come to the beaches to nest.
